Welcome to Women in Emergency Management

Connect. Lead. Rise. A (free) cross-sector community for women in emergency management.

Our Big Purpose

From all sectors, career stages, and corners of the profession, we bring together women emergency managers for transformative learning, connection, and empowerment.

Together, we will:

  • Embrace and learn from each other’s invaluable lessons, triumphs, and innovative solutions,

  • Ignite inspiration through meaningful conversations and the exchange of ideas, and

  • Cultivate a supportive community that propels all of us to greater heights, both as a collective force and as individuals.

A Community Rooted in Connection

This is more than just a platform — it’s a vibrant network designed specifically for women in emergency management to connect, collaborate, and grow together.

Inside this community, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Expand your network by engaging with women across sectors and career stages throughout the US (and potentially beyond).

  • Gain fresh perspectives through shared stories, insights, and innovative approaches from fellow emergency managers.

  • Give and receive support in a space that encourages growth, fosters confidence, and offers opportunities for virtual mentoring.

Please note:

This space is run by a one-woman team, so moderation and replies may take a bit longer than you might usually expect. I appreciate your patience and understanding as we grow together.

Who Can Join?

This community welcomes women, individuals AFAB, or who identify as a woman who are professionals, students, and retirees working in (or retired from) the field of emergency management - in any sector.

What About Volunteers?

We deeply value the dedication of volunteers. However, this network is specifically designed for women who are currently working in the field or enrolled in college/university emergency management programs. This focus ensures that the conversations and support remain relevant to the unique challenges and expectations of women navigating this traditionally male-dominated profession.

International Members

Not based in the U.S.? You’re welcome here.
We believe the more diverse our voices, the stronger our community becomes.

Independence and Transparency

This platform is not affiliated with any government agency. It is personally funded and maintained by Dawn Brantley, outside of her professional role. This independent initiative was created to increase access, visibility, and connection for women across the emergency management field.
