Too many rooms in emergency management still have one woman in them. We're building the other kind of room: one where women from every corner of the field learn from each other, lift each other up, and lead together.
Together, we:
Students breaking in. Coordinators running whole programs alone. Planners, PIOs, hospital EM leads, and consultants. Directors running states. Retirees paying it forward. If you're a woman building a career in emergency management, you belong here.
Women in EM welcomes women, individuals AFAB, and those who identify as women who are professionals, students, and retirees in emergency management, in any sector.
What about volunteers? Many of us came into the field through volunteer and response work, and we value it. To keep conversations focused on the professional career, membership is for women currently working in emergency management, retired from it, or enrolled in an emergency management degree program.
Not based in the U.S.? You're welcome here. Every country we add makes the community stronger.

Here, your expertise is the starting point, not something you have to prove.
Women in EM was founded and is personally run by Dawn Brantley, a state emergency management director who has worked at the local, regional, state, and federal levels of emergency management.
It's run by one person with a demanding day job, so replies can take a day or two. The community itself usually answers much faster.
Independent and transparent. Women in EM is not affiliated with any government agency. It's personally funded and maintained by Dawn outside her professional role.
Membership is free. Introduce yourself, ask your first question, and find the women who get it.
